Basic Rules or Principles :
This helps to stimulate your own system to produce adequate digestive juices, digestive acids, digestive enzymes so that the process of digestion and subsequently of absorption and elimination happens properly.
- Have meals at regular intervals and maintain proper timings
- Quit Smoking and Stop Alcohol completely.
- Tea and coffee ( max 1-2 cups per day ). Ideally avoid.
- Water Intake minimum 2 lts/day.
- Avoid fast foods, packaged foods ( foods with preservatives, artifical colours or dyes and flavours, chivda's, farsaans etc ).
- Quit aerated drinks completely.
- Minimise the use of refined sugar to as less as possible.
- Minimise the use of deep fried food items.
- Eat your food slowly and chew your food very well. Do not drink water ½ an hour before, during till ½ an hour after a meal.
- Exercise regularly for a minimum of 45 minutes. Any form of exercise will do. Eg 45 minutes of walk or Yoga exercises involving abdominal muscles are of great help to improve digestion. Eg the Kapalbhaati aasana which is shown on television daily ( forceful contractions of abdomen by exhaling out with great pressure).
